I'm Sad

I 'm feeling sad. I've been blogging for almost a year now and I feel that I'm not able to continue. Other blogs are so much better. I'm not sure what I've done that wasn't right. I do feel that I've tried and I'm not wrong, I'm just not right. I looked back to see when I started last year and it was Sept. 17. I'm going to keep posting until then but after that I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
I have to say thanks to the few people who do read me on a fairly regular basis and those who leave comments. Please tell me what I can do to improve and generate additional readers or interest. I don't mean to be gloomy. When I first started people advised me to get a counter, and if not for that I would have quit a longtime ago, it shows me that a least some people are coming by even if they aren't leaving comments
There are so many talented people out there. Cindy at My Romantic Home has been the force that encouraged me to start blogging. Her site is so great and she has a zillion readers. Valarie, Penny, Mary Ellen, Jean and Cindy, thanks to all of you for your encouragement.
I had the privilege of corresponding with some great people. I feel like there are a few of you that I consider friends I don't want to list names for fear that I could leave someone out and hurt someones feeling, but know that I appreciate you ALL.
Am I being too sensitive? Too self-absorbed. Too DEPRESSED??? I really am a very upbeat person and try to be somewhat of a clown but I guess I'm not able to transfer that to my posts.
Anyway I'm going to keep trying until Sept 17...
thanks for listening to me ramble

Oh, I so understand how you feel and my blog isn't anywhere NEAR as awesome as yours. My stats are high but I rarely get comments and I often fall into blog lapse for various reasons.

Keep your chin up. If most people are like me, we are just too lazy to comment but that doesn't mean that we aren't here reading and enjoying your blog...

Oh sweetie, please, please don't stop! I have you on my favorites list and love it when you post!!!!!!! Do not look at stats...do not look at comments. But what I want you to see is what blogging does for YOU. Does it give you pleasure? Just showing what's going on in your life and your wonderful taste? It's such a wonderful outlet for women our age...to show what we love, to visit with others our age and to relate to sweet friends that are experiencing the same things. Please think on these things dear friend, hugs and love, Dawn

Hi! Oh please don't give up. I know it is difficult to keep going sometimes. I know that if I don't check out some blogs there is no action on mine. I really think joining the Pink Saturday blogging and visiting other blogs and leaving comments does really help getting some visitors to your blog. Please stop by my blog and read about Pink Saturday, you will get a link to Beverly who is the host of PS. Have a wonderful weekend and I will check on you from time to time. Hugs.

oh dont give up.. at times, I would feel the same.. and feels sad when my counter shows high numbers but hardly receive any comments.. but that didn't stop me from posting.. I suggest you keep on posting what you think the best.. we can't keep everyone happy with our post.. but at least it make ourselves happy sharing the stories.. soooo keep writing.. and lookforward to read more stories from you.. have a great weekend!

How awful that you are feeling like you need to stop blogging just because your comment count numbers are not high. Please don't stop. Your blog is wonderful. Don't think a blog isn't a good one unless it has tons of people leaving comments each time you post. It's not numbers that matter. I've never let the "numbers" thing get in the way of me blogging. My comment count numbers are never high, but I still love to share new things with my small but loyal group of followers and I will continue to do that for as they keep coming back and as long I still find joy in blogging.

I read your blog as often as you post & I do enjoy it..

I don't often leave a comment on blogs because when I ask someone a question they never answer it..

maybe because I don't have a blog so that makes me not important ...but I do enjoy reading them anyway...LOL ..

Your house is looking so pretty...

I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time with your blog:( I have read your blog and really do enjoy it so. My blog is www.thevintagevignette.blogspot.com and I have found that one of the best ways to generate interest and meet new friends is to join a social networking site! I am an administrator for Vintage Flaire which is one such site and most of my blog readers have come from there. Here you are able to meet new friends who enjoy vintage art, decorating, shopping and more. We even have a section where you can introduce your blog to the gals and exchange thoughts and ideas. We have a blog hop scheduled for this month that I know you would enjoy. We will visit each others blogs on this day and enjoy what everybody is working on. If you visit my site and scroll all the way to the bottom you will see the Vintage Flair badge. Just click on it and it will take you directly to the site where you can check it out for yourself. There is no reason to be sad anymore if you come and see us. We'd love to have you! :)

Please don't be sad. It took me a long time to get into blogging and I still feel like I have a long way to go. I enjoy visiting your blog, and don't always have time to comment on all of the wonderful blogs that I am privileged to visit. Please don't give up. I read your last five posts and I thought they were so interesting, and some of them did make me laugh. In addition to that, my daughter is a nurse and nurses have a special place in my heart.

I am a regular reader of your blog and always enjoy it. My favorite project of yours was your fabulous patio. I hope these comments will encourage you just as your blogging has blessed us all.

I just happened upon your blog today. It is wonderful.
I started my blog last feb. On my counter stats I have over 4,000 visits! But, I only have 31 followers. I started my blog to keep in touch with log-distance family. But I found I really enjoyed following other blogs, too!
Blogging to maintain a high following takes time. I Try to comment on the "main" blogs I follow. There is no way I could comment on each and every blog I have listed in "My blog list".
I see blogs that have 300-1500 followers but never more than 40-50- comments have been left. So I do figure if I have 31 followers with 15 comments, I am doing pretty good! LOL!
Don't give up; blogging has to be for YOU first. The rest is just a cherry on top!
I am going to "follow" you! I hope to see you at my blog!
Blessings, Misha

Sandy, don't give up! I think I've visited you before and don't remember if I left a message. First, let me tell you that I'm a Texas girl born and raised so you catch my attention right off the bat! We've been living in Oklahoma for 20 years but I still feel a connection to anyone from Texas.

It took me a long time to get visitors too. I think it really happened to build up because I was leaving lots of messages and joining into some of the linky parties. The down side of that is that it takes a ton of time. Please continue your blog. Your home is gorgeous. I'm so impressed by the things you are doing.

Now, I'm coming back to check on you and you better still be here. :)

Stacey from Poofing the Pillows sent me your way and I am so glad that she did!
I was instantly drawn to the fact that you are a nurse, single parent and a Gemini! - ME TOO!
I love your blog and can't wait to sroll through all of your old posts.
I just started blogging in May when my youngest son went to basic training and I needed a big time distraction!
I love the blog world! The inspiration that I get from other blogs really excites me to no end! There is always a new recipe to try or I come away with some small, sometimes huge, decorating projects! No where else have I ever found so many or such wonderful ideas!
I look at my blog as a diary of sorts! Blog for the pure joy that it brings YOU!
Hugs,
Cindy

It looks like you're getting alot of feedback on this Post and that's great. I know how you feel though, I've been blogging for sometime now, and people rarely leave comments but I know they're visiting me. I'm guilty of not leaving comments either, I have to admit, but I do enjoy your blog very much. But I have to agree with The Feathered Nest, what does blogging do for you? I know for me, its like writing in a journal, it makes me feel good and I thoroughly enjoy it, so I'll keep doing it. So I hope you do as well. Hang in there. Don't give up. Blog for yourself!

I've been blogging for two years and would like to offer this advice. Blog for you. Don't check stats. Don't compare your blog to other ones. Sure it's hard not to have blog envy but keep in mind that lots of bloggers "borrow" photos that are not legally theirs to use. Perhaps, choosing one day of the week would make it seem less of a chore and more of a pleasure?

i see that a lot of my fave blogs are fueled by a certain group of writers, i started a blog 6 mos ago and it flopped, bombed! However, mine was NO WHERE like yours. your blog is gorgeous, and you already have followers. you are giving something beautiful to us when you blog. quite frankly my favorite blog (beehive cottage) is one that I read morning noon and night, constantly, however, i have never commented cause i don't know how! i once sent an email to mary jane to purchase some journals, but i don't know how to write on a daily basis like everyone else. so it is truly possible that there are others like me who don't write! dont be sad! sue reinhart, rusty star cottage. Hi Sandy, I get so excited when I get a comment...yeah...thankyou. I babysit Hattie Jane 3 days and 4 days a wk. Then on weekends housework, hunting for antiques for my space at an antique store. We just made a major move to a new home and packing 40yrs accumulation also. We still have landscaping to do.This is probably why I make little stabs at my blog. I would rather explore others blogs than posting on my own. But thankyou for the offer of helping me. I might take you up the offer to help me. For first thing is my heading. It doesnt fit but I think I need a new one.So will try to figure that out sometime. I hope this finds you feeling different about staying with your blog. Hugs Sally

You have such a lovely blog!! Please don't stop blogging! I have been blogging for 4 years and have stopped and started quite a few times, but I always return. So many more people enjoy your view and enjoy your blog than you will ever know. Lots of people never comment. One of the keys to getting a lot of comments is taking the time to make comments on other people's blogs on a regular basis. I really enjoy your blog and I'm sure many others do, also! :)

My cousin just started me blogging in July. I didn't think I would like it or keep up with it but I tell you what, I never have to buy another magazine again. There's so much creativity and inspiration out here in blogland I am just amazed at all that I find. And of course, my wanderings lead me to very lovely blogs where I get to leave comments. My blog is nowhere as beautiful or exciting or appealing as what I found out there, but that doesn't matter. I am doing it for me and if my cousin and a handful of friends are the only ones reading, then that is a-okay! I do it for the pleasure of doing and it keeps me on track with creating and crafting! So keep doing what you are doing for you -- and celebrate the everyday things. Peace & blessings, Tammy

I just found your blog today. Don't give up. I've been blogging for 2 years and I've only got 31 followers. I don't blog often as I should and I don't always leave comments. I think you really have to get involved and I just don't have the time.

I started my blog as a personal diary, and if anybody wanted to read it that was fine. Then I started making some friends and I have a few that always come by to visit. The rest is just 'gravy'.

You have a beautiful blog. Do it for yourself - your own journal of your life and don't be offended by people not leaving msgs. Sometimes we enjoy reading others' blogs, but really don't have any comments or someone else has already said what you were going to say.

Chin up, sweetie, and keep up the good work!

I just found your blog and truly enjoyed it. It will be one of those that I follow. I read a lot of blogs but only comment occasionally and I'm sure others do the same. For every comment you receive there could be tens or hundreds of followers who are not leaving comments but are being inspired by your blog. If you enjoy doing it, then don't stop. We would all miss you!

I am still catching up here. That is one reason why I may not be visiting other blogs. Life gets in the way and I can only do just so much visiting. I do try to respond to the ones who comment on mine, even if it is just to thank them for visiting me. That way they know I have seen their comment and it was appreicated. I notice that if I visit a post with a ton of comments I don't leave one, there are so many there already. I am more apt to leave comments on posts with only a few comments. I know I you are hanging in there, because I see that I still have several of your posts to catch up on this morning. I am going to get caught up before I go to work. But first I need to get a cup of coffee. LOL!

Hi! I know this was dated September 4th, but I wanted to respond and tell you that your blog is one of my favorites!!! I love your ideas and your decorating style!! I would love to see you post more often...I know that is sooo hard to do, but please don't quit!!!

You are an inspiration to myself (who doesn't have a blog) and many others who just don't leave comments all the time!!!

It should not be a popularity contest....just do what you love and love what your doing!! Have fun with it!!
